About

History

Wings and Talons was founded at the end of 2016 by individuals passionate about educating the public about birds of prey. We started with 7 birds in our care: 2 red-tailed hawks (1 male, 1 female), 1 western screech owl, 1 eastern screech owl, 1 great horned owl, 1 barred owl, and 1 American kestrel. While originally located at Vogelei Park in Hoffman Estates, we moved into the raptor buildings at Springbrook nature center in Itasca in 2016.

What We Do

We aim to educate the public about the marvel of birds of prey. We travel to schools, park districts, local business, and more in order to spread awareness. Our programs revolve around audience participation. We love answering questions about our birds, and sharing our passion with visitors. Our facility at Springbrook is open to visitors during the park’s open hours.

Where We Are

Springbrook Nature Center: Intersection of Forest Ave. and Grove St., Itasca, IL 60143
You will see a big sign at the intersection for Springbrook Nature Center. Google maps doesn’t always direct visitors correctly to the facility, so look for the intersection and sign. Springbrook has limited parking so please plan accordingly.
